For many centuries, humans have been using techniques of sound or music therapy.  In fact, dating back well before the Buddhists or Shamans, people have been using instruments called gongs in places like Nepal, China, Japan, Tibet and other Asian regions.  Since that time the Buddhists and others have used gongs for meditation practice, where they will either use it to start and end their VSA Singing Bowl classes or meditation sessions or they will actually meditate to the soothing sounds of the gong itself.   These days, there are many uses for meditation gongs and other sound therapies, such as meditating, healing, and balancing the mind, body and spirit.  

 

There are basically two forms of sound therapy, which are done by either using a gong or singing bowl and listening to filtered classical music.  Both of these are meant to stimulate your hearing organs in attempt to stimulate the mind or brain.  By using either of these two sources, you are hoping that the higher and lower tones that are being put into your ears are going to help you regain the balance that dwells within your body and mind.  By regaining this balance, it will essentially help you regain control over your life, your emotions and over all mental state.

 

Aside from helping your psychological well-being, many people say that it also helps them overcome pain and other illnesses that they might be suffering from.  Because Vibrational sound association singing bowls and other gongs or forms of music are meant to relax and comfort you, they can actually do wonders while dealing with issues of pain and such. 

 

This is basically a new technique of medication in western society, although people have been using it for centuries in other cultures.  No matter though, sound therapy has been growing and growing in popularity for people who are looking for help with many issues that they are dealing with in their lives.  Plus, since this type of therapy can either be done in an office setting, with a professional administering it or with a cd and a cd player or gong, it can literally take no time out of your busy day, since you can do it while you are getting ready for work in the morning, on the way to or from work or just doing simple chores around the house.  Either, way there is one thing that professionals and people who have used vibrational sound association sound therapy agree on and that is that it works.
